Eco-Friendly

At Colortree sustainability means business practices which include the use of renewable resources and are accountable for the environmental impacts of all that we do. That way Colortree can meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
NewWind Energy® Wind energy is clean, safe and pollution free. Colortree has made a commitment to clean renewable energy and the development of wind power through the purchase of 92,000 kilowatt hours of wind energy. The estimated 2009 environmental benefit is equivalent to planting about 51 acres of trees or not driving 142,848 miles.
EnerNOC Energy Network Operations Center, is Colortree’s partner in helping us manage our Demand Response Program. Demand response is a voluntary energy curtailment program, also called load shedding. The program runs June through September, typically the highest energy demand months. In a demand response event Colortree and other participating companies reduce load and therefore reduce the stress put upon the Electricity grid we are a part of.
EcoPride inks by Braden Sutphin Ink are an important part of Colortree’s sustainability initiative. The EcoSmart certification program was developed in response to calls for environmentally friendly and sustainable products. EcoPride Green inks are low in volatile organic compounds and manufactured with renewable resources such as soya linseed and tung oils. Details about the EcoSmart certification and manufacturing standards can be found at www.bsink.com.
Forest Stewardship Council
Forests provide us with clean water, fresh air and they even help combat global warming. They also provide food, medicine and important natural resources, such as timber and paper. If managed responsibly, forests and plantations benefit the global community.
The FSC Principles and Criteria describe how forests are to be managed to meet the social, economic, ecological, cultural and spiritual needs of present and future generations. By achieving FSC Chain of Custody Certification, Colortree’s customers are assured that purchases of environmentally responsible products are processed and delivered according to the Forestry Stewardship Council standards.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative
This standard is based on principles and measures that promote responsible environmental behavior and sound forest management including measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and forests of exceptional conservation value. Chain-of-custody certification means a company has a tracking system in place that identifies the amount of certified, uncertified and recycled content in the forest products it buys, uses or sells. By achieving SFI certification, Colortree Inc. of Virginia joins a growing community of companies, land-owners, and social and environmental organizations committed to improving forest practices on a global scale.
